Cauvery Aarti Inaugurated By Deputy CM In Mysuru

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar inaugurated the five-day symbolic Cauvery Aarti in Brindavan Gardens at the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) Dam. As per a report by The Times of India, the Cauvery Aarti is modelled on Varanasi’s famous Ganga Aarti. For the festivities, the KRS Dam and its surroundings were illuminated to create a festive ambience. This is the first such programme to be organised in South India. The Cauvery River is considered the lifeline of people in Karnataka and also for communities in Tamil Nadu. According to TOI, the Cauvery Aarti is a large-scale project with an allocation of ₹100 crore.

The aarti aims to create awareness among people about the land, water and culture of the state. Shivakumar shared with TOI that the programme allows devotees to offer prayers to the river and to God. A stadium-like structure will host cultural and devotional performances. Artists from Kodagu, Mangaluru, Mysuru and Mandya will present their art during the programme. Visitors to Brindavan Gardens on all five days will also be given laddoos as prasad of Mother Cauvery.
