Moving to foreign countries to settle down and lead a comfortable life is a dream for many. However, sometimes leaving your parents behind can be disheartening. This is what is happening with a Reddit user, @hanselhazel92, who shared her dilemma online. According to her post, she is a 32-year-old woman who has been living in the US for 10 years. She and her husband have stable, well-paying jobs in Denver and even own a house, although it is on loan.

However, she has now received a job offer of ₹1.2 crore per year in Bengaluru and is seriously considering moving back to India. She has also shared another reason for her decision, which is that her family is in India and her parents are getting older. She wrote, “Time feels like slipping away. Not being able to care for them is the worst feeling of all.”

The Reddit user also added that her parents are not keen on moving to the US because of cultural differences and their routine life in India. She also mentioned that her hometown is in Northeast India, but since there are no suitable jobs there, she would have to move to Bengaluru. She admitted that life in the US is comfortable and stress-free, and the couple even travels internationally, including to India.

However, she wrote, “And every time I visit India, I get frustrated with how rude/angry/people are everywhere. Especially on roads, I could never drive there.” The user ended her post by asking for advice from the other Redditors. She also asked if her ₹1.2 crore offer is enough or if she should negotiate.

Reddit Users Flock To Comments Section With Their Advice

Many Redditors have now flocked to the comments with their advice. One user said, “Since you have money and can make good money, you can afford to live in a bubble. I don’t really have much advice to give tbh. We all make the best decisions we can with the cards we are dealt,” pointing out that her Bengaluru offer is good and she could live comfortably in India.

Another commented, “NO. Denver is better imo (in my opinion). I know how it must feel to see parents getting old, and that is the only reason I have stayed back in India.” This user also added that pollution, women’s safety, and traffic here are not worth it to leave her life in Denver, even for a ₹1.2 crore job offer.

While one user strongly advised her against moving from Denver to Bengaluru, writing, “After the quality of life here, it will be very hard to adjust in India. Bangalore is overpopulated anyway. You will be frustrated sooner or later.”

Many users also bashed her for being confused about ₹1.2 crore, saying it is far more than what most Indians earn in a year. One Redditor said, “Do what makes you happy, but asking others if ₹1.2 crore is enough in India sounds really tone deaf. A very small % the population makes that kind of money in India, and if that’s not enough for you, nothing can make you happy in life.”
