Recently, a foreign travel vlogger has expressed his disappointment over Mahabalipuram Beach in Tamil Nadu, stating that he was shocked to find the shoreline covered in garbage during his visit and calls it the “most trashed beach”. Read on to know more about the viral video.
Vlogger Slams Mahabalipuram Beach
A social media creator, Joey Travels (@homeless.digitalnomad) on Instagram, shared a video showing a sandy area filled with garbage like plastic waste, bags, bottles, wrappers, and other debris scattered across the beach. He then called the condition of the beach “shameful” and said that it is shocking that people in India do not pick up their own trash. He also added that it was “the most trashed beach” that he had ever seen in his entire life. He also claimed that everyone in the country, including upper-class litterers, assumed that someone else was responsible for cleaning up. He further noted that while people often blame the government, the real issue lies in public behaviour. He also said that while they are taught that littering is bad, they continue to do it.

Calls Condition Of The Beach “Shameful”
He further added, “The reason why people don’t pick up trash in this country, from what I’ve gathered, is because they think it is the government’s responsibility. Don’t get me wrong, the government should have better waste management systems, but that doesn’t excuse individuals from littering and treating the planet like garbage.” He added that there is a serious problem with the public mindset around waste in the country, and called it “shameful and disrespectful to our planet”.
Not only this, but the vlogger also pointed out that not all parts of India have the same issue. Alongside the video, he wrote, “Pick up your trash. This is shameful.” He stated that southwest India appears cleaner and added that regions like Ladakh, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Mizoram do not seem to have the same level of garbage issues, even after receiving “less government effort than the general population”.
