The Jaisalmer Railway Station, considered a crucial hub for tourism and military movement, has received a major upgrade at a cost of ₹140 crore! According to a report by Lokmat Times, the revamped station blends modern technology with the city’s architectural heritage. The design reflects Jaisalmer’s rich history through the use of yellow sandstone elements and traditional Rajasthani designs. The station looks modern but still holds on to its traditional roots.
This mix of technology and culture offers passengers a glimpse into Jaisalmer’s desert identity the moment they arrive. Keeping passenger comfort in mind, the railway station now offers several new facilities. These include lifts, escalators, modern waiting halls, better lighting, and upgraded sanitation facilities. World-Class Facilities For Passengers
According to a report by Lokmat Times, all these additions aim to make travel smoother and more comfortable. The station also features a concourse and a circulating area to ease passenger movement. Parking facilities within the premises allow travellers to park their private vehicles without worry.
For better safety and easy navigation, the station includes a foot overbridge, cloakroom facilities, clear signboards, and a digital passenger information system. The station also offers facilities for persons with disabilities. Ramps, specially designed toilets, and barrier-free access are available at key points across the station.
With these upgrades, the Jaisalmer Railway Station has moved to a whole new level. The redevelopment is being seen as a historic achievement for the city. Its world-class amenities are expected to boost tourism, trade, and local employment. The modernised station will also strengthen Jaisalmer’s image on a global platform.
