As per PTI via Hindustan Times, frustrated travellers gathered near the immigration area of the Bengaluru Airport and held a protest, shouting and expressing their anger and frustration against the airline. There were around 40 Kannada-speaking passengers; most of them were a part of a group tour to Nepal.

Most passengers complained that arrangements during the delay were inadequate. The passengers were made to wait inside the aircraft for more than 30 hours, while other passengers also claimed they suffered major financial losses due to the delays.

What Exactly Happened With The Kathmandu-Bengaluru Flight?

As per the Hindustan Times, an Air India Express spokesperson confirmed that the diversion was caused by bad weather conditions in Kathmandu and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused. The airline spokesperson also stated that affected passengers were provided hotel accommodation and also given either free rescheduling or full refunds. Not only this, but a special recovery flight has been scheduled for Saturday to clear the backlog.

The spokesperson added, Because of adverse weather in Kathmandu, Bengaluru-Kathmandu flights on 26th and 27th February were diverted. Because of which an additional flight operated on the 28th February to recover guests from yesterday’s disrupted service was also diverted for the same reason. Following which, another additional recovery flight is planned tomorrow to accommodate the guests.
