One of Madhya Pradesh’s major highway projects is nearing completion. The four-lane corridor, part of the Indore-Ichhapur National Highway, is expected to improve travel between Central India and Hyderabad. Read on for more details about the highway.
Madhya Pradesh’s 4-Lane Highway Nears Completion
It’s good news for Madhya Pradesh residents! The Outlook Traveller reports that a highway project slicing through the state’s hills is almost complete. As reported by the portal, officials stated that the construction could improve travel time between Madhya Pradesh and Hyderabad. The four-lane corridor will feature smooth roads and three tunnels beautifully carved through the mountains. The highway project is all set to open by December this year.

The new route will reduce travel time, make the journey smoother and safer, and ease traffic on one of the busiest interstate corridors in the region. The best feature of the project is a series of tunnels built through the mountains of Indore and Balwada. The 33.4-kilometre section is said to be one of the most difficult areas of the route because of its steep slopes and rough terrain.
Engineers are constructing three tunnels to bypass the risky ghat stretches. The Bherughat tunnel will span approximately 575 metres, the Choral Ghat tunnel 550 metres, and the Baigram tunnel 480 metres. Using the latest electronic blasting technology, these tunnels will allow drivers to pass smoothly without navigating winding hill roads, reducing traffic congestion and the risk of accidents.
New Highway To Make Travel Easy Between Indore & Hyderabad
According to the news portal, the National Highways Authority of India has confirmed that the new highway will help vehicles move smoothly across the risky ghats. Moreover, the route will make travel easier between Indore and Omkareshwar, home to one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines.
Additionally, this will also improve long-distance travel between Indore and Hyderabad, as it will cut congestion and encourage better travel movement for both freight and passenger vehicles.
