The Magenta Line (Line-8) of the Delhi Metro network is all set to become the longest corridor in NCR with the most interchanges and underground stations. This expansion is expected to significantly improve cross-city connectivity across Delhi-NCR and make daily travel much easier for commuters. Here’s everything you need to know about this.
Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line To Run From Botanical Garden To Inderlok
This development comes after the approval of Phase V(A), which includes the Magenta Line extension from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha via Central Vista. According to The Indian Express, after this expansion, the Magenta Line will officially become the longest corridor on the Delhi Metro. It will have the highest number of interchange and underground stations.
DMRC has said that the Indraprastha-Inderlok corridor of Phase IV will now be implemented as an extension of the Magenta Line. With this expansion, the line running from Botanical Garden to Inderlok will cover around 89 km. Moreover, this corridor will run entirely as a driverless metro line once it becomes fully operational.

More Interchanges, Less Crowding
According to another report by The Indian Express, the operational stretch of the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line currently has four interchange stations. These include Kalkaji Mandir, Botanical Garden, Janakpuri West, and Hauz Khas. After completion, the Magenta Line will have 21 interchange stations. These are the 17 new interchange stations:
- Kalindi Kunj
- Chirag Delhi
- Peeragarhi (Madhuban Chowk)
- Haiderpur Badli Mor
- Majlis Park
- Azadpur
- Terminal-1-IGI Airport
- Pulbangash
- Nabi Karim
- Ramakrishna Ashram Marg
- Shivaji Stadium
- Central Secretariat
- Indraprastha
- Delhi Gate
- New Delhi
- Inderlok
These 21 interchange facilities are expected to reduce travel time, reduce overcrowding, and provide seamless end-to-end connectivity across Delhi-NCR. Furthermore, once the expansion is completed, this line running from Botanical Garden to Inderlok will have 65 stations. Out of these, 40 stations will be underground.
