Delhi’s culinary scene hardly needs an introduction! From the iconic chaat of Old Delhi to the trendy cafés of South Delhi, the city never fails to impress. But, sadly, fusion food has struck again, and this time, the victim is everyone’s beloved momos. A street vendor in Delhi is now serving tadke wale fruit momos, leaving netizens horrified and humorously comparing them to the infamous ‘zeher wali kheer’ from Sooryavansham!
Salad? Momo? Momos In Fruit Gravy?!
Food blogger Food Pandits (@foodpandits) took to Instagram to share the latest food horror he discovered in Delhi–tadke wale fruit momos! The street food vendor confidently defended his creation, claiming these are “aaj ke zamane ke momos,” not “dadaji ke time wale,” while casually chopping fruits right on his momo cart.
On the plate, the vendor had neatly chopped bananas, apples, oranges, and grapes. We tried to reserve our judgments until he tossed all the fruits into a pan of hot oil to give them a “tadka”! Next came a blend of cheese, which even left the food blogger slightly stunned. The food vendor then added water, oregano, chilli flakes, salt, and cream to prepare the gravy. Finally, the fried momos were added to complete this unusual fruit-tadka momo dish.
The dish, the food vendor explained, was actually an idea of a customer and costs about ₹200 per plate. When asked if people would actually like this unusual dish, the very confident vendor said, Yes!
