Mumbai Gears Up For Anant Chaturdashi! 24,000 Cops & 25,000 BMC Staff To Manage Ganpati Visarjan

Mumbai is all set to bid an emotional farewell to Bappa on Anant Chaturdashi today, and the city is leaving no stone unturned to manage the massive crowds expected for Ganpati visarjan. With lakhs of devotees expected to take part in processions across the city, more than 24,000 police personnel and over 25,000 BMC officials and staffers have been deployed for the final day of the festival.

24,000+ Cops To Keep Vigil Across Mumbai For Ganesh Visarjan

As thousands of Ganpati idols make their way to immersion points, Mumbai Police will have a massive deployment across the city. According to Hindustan Times, the force includes senior police officers, personnel and trainees, along with specialised units such as the Rapid Action Force, State Reserve Police Force, Force One, Quick Response Teams and anti-drone teams.

The police will also use CCTV cameras and drones to keep an eye on crowd movement at major immersion points. Additional forces can be moved to areas where crowds become particularly dense.

The civic body is also gearing up for one of the busiest days of the Ganpati festival. More than 25,000 BMC officials and employees have been deployed to help ensure that the immersion process runs smoothly.

The BMC has arranged immersion facilities across the city, including natural immersion sites and artificial ponds. Lifeguards, ambulances and motorboats will also be stationed at various locations as part of the safety arrangements.

Mumbai Gets Ready To Say ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’

Anant Chaturdashi marks the culmination of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, which began in Mumbai on September 14 this year. As the city comes together for the final visarjan, the combination of massive processions, dhol-tasha beats, chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” and lakhs of devotees is expected to make it one of the busiest days of the festival.

So, if you’re heading out to witness the visarjan, expect crowds, traffic diversions and plenty of activity across the city. Follow the official advisories, avoid restricted routes where possible and, most importantly, let Bappa’s farewell be a safe one.
