Great news for Mumbai Metro commuters! The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has now announced the extension of Mumbai Metro Line 12 under a new project, Metro Line 12A. Here are all the details you should know about its route, stations and more.
₹8,414 Crore Mumbai Metro Line 12A Project Approved
According to a report by The Times of India, authorities have cleared the extension of Mumbai Metro Line 12 under the Metro Line 12A project with an approval of ₹8,414 crore. Officials see this decision as a major step to improve transport links between Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Mumbai. The Metro Line 12A will run parallel to the Kalyan-Shilphata Road, which is one of the city’s busiest stretches and sees heavy traffic daily.
Reportedly, the corridor will branch from Kalyan Phata, pass through Dahisar Mori and then merge with the existing Metro Line 12 near Khutari village before heading towards Taloja. The revised corridor will span 18.4 km, of which 10.5 km is already under construction. Notably, this corridor will have 12 elevated stations.

Which Areas Will Benefit The Most?
According to a report by The Times of India, the Mumbai Metro Line 12A project will benefit residents of Extended Dombivli, Manpada, Katai Naka, Desai Naka, Padalegaon, Kalyan Phata, Gotheghar, Dahisar Mori, Dahisargaon, Kirawali village, Rohinjan and Khutari village.
This corridor will also help reduce congestion on Shilphata Road and improve travel time. This means commuters will not have to remain stuck on roads for hours. Moreover, authorities are also proposing its integration with the Mumbai Metro Line 14 for enhanced connectivity. Projects like Mumbai Metro Line 12A show how officials are working to ease congestion and improve links between key areas in Mumbai. The move is expected to help hundreds of daily commuters.
