Mumbai Metro Line 3 Announces Special Discounts For Differently-Abled Passengers

It’s not every day that you hear about metro lines offering discounts that promote inclusivity and mobility, right? Sure, most metros are designed to accommodate differently-abled passengers and have reserved seats for senior citizens. But it’s rare to see authorities launch special fares with discounts that support inclusive mobility. Mumbai Metro 3, or the Aqua Line, has now introduced an offer for differently-abled passengers.

In a recent post on its official X handle, Mumbai Metro 3 wrote, “In a step towards inclusive mobility, #MMRC has planned to offer 25% discount on Monthly Trip Passes on Metro Line-3 for differently-abled passengers.” They also mentioned that the facility will become effective after ten days. The authorities are currently updating the post-ticketing system, after which eligible passengers will be able to enjoy this 25% discount on their monthly trip passes.

And now, the entire corridor is open to the public. It’s the city’s first fully underground metro line and connects South Mumbai to North Mumbai. The Aqua Line has made daily commutes faster and far more efficient. Many of its stations also feature modern designs not seen in previous metro lines. And now, with the introduction of this new discount, MMRC is taking another positive step for commuters.

Many netizens praised the initiative online. One user wrote, “Do the same for Students and senior citizens. Students, especially considering this line passes through lots of schools and colleges.” Another gave one suggestion and wrote, “Please give connectivity to and from JVLR. One feels stranded unless there is a private pickup and drop-off.”
