India is celebrating Hanuman Jayanti today by visiting temples and offering prayers to Lord Hanuman. But actress Nimrat Kaur found a very special way to mark the day. She took to Instagram to share a series of photos from Kashi at Tulsi Ghat, where poet-saint Tulsidas composed most of the Ramcharitmanas.
Nimrat Kaur Visits Tulsi Ghat In Kashi
Nimrat Kaur, who is known for her work in films like Airlift and The Lunchbox, marked the special day of Hanuman Jayanti with a heartfelt post. She recently visited Tulsi Ghat in Kashi and shared her experience of “walking through the history of what we pray to.” Her journey began at the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, which led her to visit Sant Tulsidas’ home at Tulsi Ghat. According to Nimrat, it was one of the most energetically charged places she has set foot in.
While soaking in the spirituality, she also came across the Tulsi Akhara, which was founded sometime in the mid-1500s. Nimrat shared that wrestlers there had a “monk-like devotion to their patron deity, Lord Hanuman.” They follow a path of spiritual discipline and physical strength.

In her Instagram post, Nimrat Kaur also shared that the wrestlers’ daily practice typically starts with eating boondi ke laddoo and then practising in dough-like mud from the banks of the Ganga. This mud is treated with alum, mustard oil, and turmeric. Nimrat was also lucky enough to find some boondi ke laddoo to enjoy one morning. She even posted a photo of a silver-haired 78-year-old man who showed the fitness and flexibility of a 20-year-old athlete.
Nimrat ended her post by writing, “Goswami Tulsidas wrote the Ram Charit Manas and composed the Hanuman Chalisa, right here, on this divine soil. This marriage of history, legend, tradition, sacrifice, devotion and discipline is simply unmatched. Most blessed to have walked through those silent, sunlit corridors, absorbing some of that ancient light and dust. Happy Hanuman Jayanti, all.”
