Vinod Chendhil, founder of the noodle brand Naturally Yours, recently took to his X account to share a story about his friend and entrepreneur who lives away from luxury and prefers a simple life. He stated that he is friends with a founder whose worth is ₹100 crore, but he still travels by autorickshaws and stays in simple hotels. He further discussed that the only change that money bought is that he now has more free time.

Vinod responded to a post from Ravi Handa reflecting on how different levels of wealth change people and their lifestyles. He wrote, “My founder friend who has a 100 cr net worth. Travels by auto whenever in Mumbai, takes a shared auto/taxi wherever possible, stays at simple hotels, and has not bought an expensive vehicle. The only thing that has changed is that he has more vacations/free time now.”
He shared that while many people wish to upgrade their lifestyles with luxury cars, one unnamed founder still prefers to live simply. Ravi Handa, an IIT-educated entrepreneur, started a debate by saying that he is worth ₹10 crore and lives a comfortable life. However, his life would have changed considerably if he had a net worth of ₹50 crore.

While some appreciated his simple life, others questioned why he is living life like this. One user wrote, “Living such a miserable life! I hope his kids live a better and meaningful life for which money is meant for.”
Another wrote, “Why, though? What is his reason for this? Isn’t money a tool to make your life as easy and peaceful as possible from a personal finance standpoint? Why suffer in share auto if one doesn’t need to?”

One wrote, “The difference in view depends on which part of the country you are from. People in the North tend to flaunt their wealth and lead a good life with their money. In the south, especially Tamil Nadu, they don’t like to flaunt their wealth. You can see rich people coming in 2-wheelers to work.”
