Odisha strawberries

Good news! Odisha has now gone global! A fresh batch of strawberries from Dhenkanal is on its way to London for the first time. This is being seen as a significant step towards global market integration. Here is everything you need to know about this development in the agro world.

Odisha’s Strawberries Exported To London

For the first time, Odisha’s delicious and juicy strawberries are making their way overseas to London. According to Agro Spectrum, farmers from Odisha have exported 51 kg of fresh strawberries from the Dhenkanal district. The consignment was dispatched during the district-level flower show held in Dhenkanal. This move not only opens international pathways for farmers but also helps them enhance their income potential.

These strawberries were cultivated and aggregated by Saptasajya Agro Producer Company Limited. It is a Farmer-Producer Organisation (FPO) based in Dhenkanal. This export is significant as it marks the first time strawberries from Odisha will be used overseas, especially in a market like London. An X user, @manas_muduli, also shared the update and wrote, “Odisha goes global!! Fresh strawberries from Dhenkanal are making their way to London for the first time. Move Helps Boost Farmers’ Confidence

According to Agro Spectrum, the export was supported by the Directorate of Horticulture under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment. It was carried out through the PSFPO project. This move has put Odisha in the spotlight as a state capable of growing premium, high-value horticulture crops. It will also help boost farmers’ confidence in meeting strict international quality and compliance standards.

Strawberries are in high demand across the world. They are loved not just for their taste but also for their nutritional value. Strawberries are rich in antioxidants, which is why many people include them in their diet. They are also widely used in desserts and other recipes. We hope this export opens new opportunities for farmers in India.
