Motorable Road Planned In Pahalgam, Jammu And Kashmir

According to The New Indian Express, authorities are planning to build a motorable road to Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The decision aims to improve access and emergency response in the area. Baisaran Valley is a very beautiful destination known for its vast green meadows, snow-capped mountains and pine forests.

The place attracts nature lovers who want to spend time in a spot often dubbed ‘Mini Switzerland’. However, Baisaran is not accessible by road. People usually reach the place on foot, on horses or through ATV rides. To address this, the stretch is set to get proper road connectivity.

Road Will Be Constructed From Circuit Road To Baisaran Valley

According to The New Indian Express, the road is estimated to cost ₹6.08 crore and will be constructed from Circuit Road to Baisaran in Pahalgam. Construction work is expected to begin next month, in May 2026. Reportedly, local ponywalas are quite concerned about this decision. They believe the road could significantly impact their livelihoods, as more tourists may choose cars instead of horse rides.

However, authorities have said that pony services will continue to operate alongside the new route. Many tourism stakeholders have welcomed this decision, believing that the road will attract more tourists to the destination. You would like to know that authorities have also introduced a QR code-based identification system for all tourism providers, including ponywalas, hawkers, outside vendors and more.
