In the first viral clip shared by an Instagram user (@lucky_charmedcourt), the woman, who appears to be dealing with an itchy foot condition, is seen scratching her foot while seated at a restaurant before using the same hand to eat a slice of pizza. Once the video was posted online, it garnered over 11 million views on Instagram.

Later, the user posted another video that seemed to show the same person using a fork to scratch her foot while dining. That clip has also gone viral, crossing 7 million views. The videos triggered a wave of reactions from social media users, many of whom criticised the passenger’s behaviour and questioned hygiene standards in public dining areas, particularly aboard cruise ships where thousands of people share enclosed spaces. Sharing the video, the user wrote, “oot fungus lady uses fork on cruise”.
