Mizoram Issues Travel Advisory Amid Heavy Rain

The monsoon has been wreaking havoc in the hilly areas of India. Certain routes in Uttarakhand have been witnessing flooding and travel disruptions, and now the same is happening in Mizoram too. So, if you were planning to visit this northeastern state, you may have to postpone your travel plans. According to News18, heavy rainfall has caused significant damage across several parts of Mizoram.

The state is witnessing landslides and flooding, and people are being evacuated to safety. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Aizawl Centre, said Serchhip recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours at 34 mm, followed by Khawzawl at 17.5 mm and Siaha at 16.5 mm.

Government Urges Travellers To Postpone Their Trips

Due to the bad weather, the Mizoram government has asked people to avoid travelling to the state until the weather conditions improve. Those who have already made travel plans are also being urged to reschedule their trips. The government has warned that the rains could lead to further disruptions and may be risky for travellers.

According to News18, Mizoram recorded a huge spike in tourism in 2025, helping boost the state’s economy. The credit for this goes to the inauguration of the Bairabi–Sairang railway line in September 2025. People often visit the state to soak in its peaceful vibes and explore its local culture. Mizoram is also considered one of the safest places in India for solo travellers.
