The newly inaugurated Omkareshwar Bridge is a pedestrian bridge built across the Mula River in Pune. Located near the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Garden, the cable-stayed bridge links the metro station to Shaniwar Peth and has a distinctive, veena-shaped design.
According to Hindustan Times, the construction of the Omkareshwar Bridge began in March 2022. After a thorough inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), the bridge was inaugurated and opened for public use recently. The structure serves as a pedestrian link between the historic Omkareshwar Temple and the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Udyan Metro Station. It also aims to ease access for thousands of commuters from the city’s historic core.
