Singapore-Bound Air India Flight Returns To Delhi Airport After Facing Technical Snag Mid-Air

A Singapore-bound Air India flight had to return to Delhi after the crew discovered a technical snag mid-air. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, was carrying around 190 passengers and had been in the air for about an hour before landing safely at Delhi Airport. Fortunately, everyone is reported safe. Here’s more on the incident.

According to a report by The Times of India, flight AI 2380 developed a technical problem while in the air. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner received an APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) fire warning shortly after take-off. As a precaution, the pilot decided to turn back to Delhi instead of continuing to Singapore. The aircraft landed in the capital around 1 am.

Fortunately, all passengers and crew were reported safe after the precautionary landing. There were no injuries or complications. The ground team at Delhi’s airport provided all necessary assistance to minimise inconvenience. Air India also arranged another aircraft to fly the passengers to Singapore.

Air India Issues Travel Advisory After Iran Closes Airspace

You should also know that, Air India issued a travel advisory for its passengers. Due to the closure of Iran’s airspace, many international flights have been delayed as planes must take alternative routes. The airline advised flyers to check their flight status before heading to the airport and assured them that necessary steps are being taken to manage the situation. They also wrote, “Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers due to this unforeseen disruption. Safety of our passengers and crew remains top priority.” 

Earlier, another Air India aircraft suffered engine damage while taxiing in dense fog at Delhi Airport. The flight, AI101, operating between Delhi and New York, had returned to the airport after the Iranian airspace closure impacted its route. The engine sucked in a baggage container after landing. Everyone on board was reported to be safe.
