With Diwali just around the corner and an expected surge in passenger traffic, Southern Railway has rolled out special trains between Chennai and Kerala to make festive travel smoother. These additional services will help ease the rush and ensure passengers can reach home on time for the celebrations.
Diwali Special Trains Between Chennai And Kerala
According to Mathrubhumi, Southern Railway has announced special Diwali trains between Chennai Egmore and Thiruvananthapuram North. These trains will provide vital connectivity across Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with scheduled halts at several key stations along the way.
The Diwali special express trains, Train No. 06108 (Thiruvananthapuram to Chennai) and Train No. 06107 (Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram), will operate on select dates during the festive season. These special trains will offer a convenient way to travel between major cities in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, stopping at key stations like Varkala, Kollam, Kayankulam, Ernakulam Town, Palakkad, and Thrissur, among others. They will make it easier for passengers to reach important destinations across both states.
All About These Festive Special Trains
The train will depart from Thiruvananthapuram North at 5:10 PM on October 21 and arrive at Chennai Egmore at 11 AM on October 22. Train No. 06107 will depart from Chennai Egmore at 1:25 PM on October 22 and reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 8 AM on October 23.
Keeping the festive rush in mind, each train will have 16 AC Three Tier coaches, two Sleeper Class coaches, and two luggage-cum-brake vans, offering both reserved and limited unreserved options. This will provide enough space and comfort for passengers with varying travel needs. With stops at several major stations, these trains also provide tourists with the opportunity to explore key attractions along the way, transforming a long journey into a scenic and cultural experience through South India.
