Srinagar in central Kashmir recorded its coldest night of the season as temperatures dropped to -3.2°C. The sharp fall marked a fresh spell of intense cold-wave-like conditions across many regions. Several areas also slipped below freezing. Here are the latest weather updates from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
Srinagar Shivers At Freezing Temperatures
Residents of Srinagar will now need to cosy up and eat warming foods. According to a report by Greater Kashmir, the city is experiencing intense cold-wave-like conditions. Temperatures are dropping abnormally low, and a layer of smog is reducing overall visibility. Over the last few days, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir has been recording below-freezing night-time temperatures.
On Monday, the Meteorological Department reported that the temperature dipped to -3.2°C, marking the coldest night of the season. The famous tourist destinations recorded even harsher conditions. Pahalgam dropped to -4°C, while Gulmarg reported -1.9°C. The famous Dal Lake has also been covered in a thick layer of smog and haze. It looks surreal, but for residents, the smog and the cold wave are interfering with their day-to-day activities.

The forecast shows that the dry spell will persist for a few more days. Further dips in temperature are expected across Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Mukhtar Ahmad shared with Greater Kashmir that no significant change in weather is expected until December 3.
