Street Food Vendor Opens Oil Pouches By Dunking Them In Hot Oil; Netizens Call It “₹10 Slow Poison”

A video is now going viral online, showing a street food vendor opening refined oil pouches by dipping them in hot oil. The video has naturally sparked outrage among netizens, with many questioning food safety standards in India.

Break Pakora Vendor Opens Oil Pouches By Dipping Them In Hot Oil

You might have come across many food hacks on social media, but this one might just leave you shocked. A video shared by @shashiiyengar, now making rounds online, shows a Ludhiana street food vendor selling bread pakoras, and opening oil pouches by dipping them into hot oil. Instead of simply cutting them open with a pair of scissors, he uses the heat of the oil to melt the plastic instantly.

A food vlogger asked him about this bizarre method, to which the vendor replied that it helps him open the pouches immediately. The uploader of the video wrote, “This street food seller has a ‘genius’ method of pouring oil – just dip the entire pouch straight into the hot pan. No cutting required! Next up? Engine oil with a side of melted plastic for that ultimate street food flavour!”

But this is wrong on so many levels. The melted plastic in the oil, which he uses to fry pakoras, can turn instantly toxic, making the snacks unsafe for consumption. The vendor also mentions that he sells bread pakoras for just ₹10 with an aloo and methi filling. Hot dogs are also being prepared in the same oil. The most shocking part? Several customers are seen waiting for their bread pakoras.

Netizens Question Food Safety In India

Naturally, the video has sparked major outrage online. Many users have shared their opinions. One wrote, “₹10 slow poison,” while another added, “ In ₹10 we are getting so many things– Oil, Plastic, style of pouring oil, Besan. Bonus: Heart Attack + Medical shop nearby… It’s a steal”, pointing towards a medical store nearby.

Another user questioned the safety of street food in India by commenting, “Every street food served in India is cancerous. Most of the shops selling samosas wrap them in newspaper, and because samosas are hot, the ink on the newspaper mixes with the samosa, which makes it contaminated.” Someone else also pointed out the obvious: why can’t he just use a pair of scissors to open the pouch?
