Swiggy’s Food On Train Expands To 201 Railway Stations; Thalis Make Up 65% Of Orders

Swiggy lets you order hot meals from local restaurants and get them delivered straight to your seat. This service, called Swiggy’s Food on Train, has recorded 12x growth over the last two years, with its network expanding from 66 to 201 railway stations across the country!

Swiggy Food On Train Records 12x Growth Over Two Years

In partnership with IRCTC, Swiggy delivers hot meals from restaurants to your seat while on a train journey, and this service has witnessed great success over the last two years. Its Food on Train offering has recorded 12x growth over the last two years with an expansion in its network. Not just that, the service has also seen adoption across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities in India.

You would like to know that Swiggy’s Food on Train has also launched a new feature called ‘Search by Train’. It allows users to discover restaurants and menus by simply entering their train number or name. Another feature called ‘99 Store Widget’ also makes it easier for travellers to find affordable meal options during their journeys.

Travellers Are Choosing Healthier Drinks & Regional Food

In just over a year, many passengers have switched from fast food and carbonated drinks to healthier options on their journey. According to Swiggy, compared to 2025, travellers now prefer drinks like lassi (+60%), buttermilk (+40%) and mojitos (+90%).

Talking about meals, many travellers now opt for traditional and regional food items. Thalis comprise over 65% of all train orders. Additionally, orders for sweets have also seen a +110% increase, led by rasgullas.

Travellers are also using their train journeys as regional culinary tours, ordering local food items from their berths. Pyaz Kachori is the top-selling item at Jaipur Junction, while Poha ranks as a top 10 breakfast staple in Bhopal. Biryani variants lead sales in Lucknow, alongside Tunday Galouti Kebabs.
