The much-awaited ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final is set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with cricket fans from across the world flying into the city to witness the action live. With massive crowds expected around the stadium to cheer for both India and New Zealand, city traffic authorities have issued advisories, including road closures and diversions near the stadium area. Here’s everything you need to know before heading to the venue.
Traffic Advisory Issued Ahead Of T20 World Cup Final In Ahmedabad
According to Hindustan Times, Ahmedabad City Traffic Police have issued several restrictions and diversions around the stadium. Ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final today, roads will be closed for vehicular traffic from Janpath T-junction to Motera Stadium Main Gate via Krupa Residency T-junction up to Motera Gam T-junction during the match. Authorities have urged commuters to steer clear of this stretch and opt for alternate routes to reduce congestion around the stadium area.
Motorists coming from Tapovan Circle towards ONGC Crossroads via Janpath T-junction have been asked to use the internal roads before the restriction point and proceed through alternative routes suggested by traffic authorities. Commuters coming via Krupa Residency T-junction should take the left connector road and continue through the designated diversion route, HT reported.

Will The Metro Run Longer Today?
Beyond road closures and restrictions, the city traffic police have also imposed curfew-like restrictions in some areas. Under Section 33 of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, these restrictions will remain in force on March 8 from 10 AM until midnight, and continue from midnight to 2 AM on March 9.
The good news is that Ahmedabad Metro service hours have been extended for the T20 World Cup final. The trains will operate until 12:50 AM and special services will be arranged on key metro routes like Motera Stadium-APMC, Old High Court Interchange-Vastral Gam, and Motera Stadium-Mahatma Mandir.
