Targhar Suburban Station To Connect To Navi Mumbai Airport
According to Mid-Day, Targhar Suburban Railway Station is nearing completion and is receiving its final touches before opening soon. The station, nearest to the soon-to-open Navi Mumbai Airport, will have terrace parking, integrated shuttle services, retail spaces, and three platforms.
This model suburban hub is being planned as a multimodal transit hub. Reports suggest that Targhar Suburban Station will have airport shuttle services, shops for daily commuter needs, and modern features like escalators and multi-level connectivity. Currently, trains do not halt at this station. However, the Central Railway said it will become operational in the coming months.
The station is built at a cost of ₹112 crore by CIDCO. It has three island platforms and two end platforms. All the platforms are 270 metres long and 12 metres wide. Targhar Suburban Station has subways for cross-platform access, commuter parking at all four corners, and a dedicated drop-off zone for buses, cars, and autorickshaws.

More About The Station
As per Mid-Day, the upcoming station has a wave-shaped roof. The design is inspired by the nearby creek and uses undulating mullions to create a 3D ripple effect. Spread across 10,600 sqm, the Targhar Suburban Station complex has an aviation-permissible height of up to 30 metres. This means vertical expansion of the complex is possible in the future.
The retail and leisure zones of the station will open once the airport is functional and residential catchments expand. The airport-facing side of the station will be used for shuttle bus services. It will have four functional zones–a core area, a transition area, a peripheral area, and an administrative area.
The exact date of the station’s opening hasn’t be announced yet.
