India’s train journeys are about to taste a lot better. In a big move ahead of the festive travel season, Swiggy has expanded its partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), taking its popular Food on Train service to 152 railway stations across the country.

Swiggy’s Food On Train Now Reaches 152 Stations Across India

Just one year ago, the service was available at 70 stations. Today, that number has more than doubled, marking an impressive 117% growth in less than 12 months. And this expansion reflects a big shift in how Indians are choosing to eat while travelling.

Swiggy’s network now stretches across the country, from Guwahati in the East to Rajkot in the West, and Pathankot in the North to Tirunelveli in the South. 55% of the network now covers Tier-2 cities and beyond, 30% is in Tier-1 cities, and only 15% is in metros.

From industrial centres like Dhanbad and Bhilai to cultural hubs like Agra, Gaya, and Madurai, travellers can now order fresh food straight to their seats. Busy junctions like Lucknow, Bhopal, Nagpur, Kanpur, Surat, and Vijayawada are seeing some of the highest order volumes in the country. Train food is no longer limited to pantry car meals or station snacks. With just a few taps, passengers can now access trusted restaurants and local favourites.

Holi Just Got Sweeter On Trains

The timing of this expansion is perfect. Swiggy has launched special festive offerings from February 28 to March 8, 2026, in response to the growing demand for Holi travel. Gujiya, pua, puran poli, festive sweets, and chaats are now available for passengers to order. They will be freshly prepared and delivered to their train seats.

Travellers can also take advantage of a flat ₹125 discount on orders over ₹399 during this time. For millions of people returning home to celebrate, this adds a little more flavour to the journey. One of the most popular features driving this growth is Swiggy’s “Train Friendly Dishes” menu. These train-friendly dishes currently account for 22% of all train orders.

‘City Best’ Brings Trusted Restaurants To You

“City Best,” a carefully curated list of the best and most award-winning eateries at each station, is another feature that is becoming more and more popular. Swiggy data indicates that 1 in 4 users open the app and immediately select the “City Best” section.

Across the nation, Swiggy’s internal data shows some intriguing trends:

  • The highest breakfast orders are seen in Itarsi and Ratlam.
  • During lunch, Kanpur, Bhopal, and Salem take the lead.
  • Dinnertime orders are dominated by Nagpur and Vijayawada.

This growth reflects a broader shift in the “convenience economy” of India. The expansion of Swiggy’s partnership with IRCTC represents a major milestone in Indian railway travel.
