According to a report by The Indian Express, this announcement was made during the Union Budget 2026. The Finance Minister proposed seven high-speed rail corridors between these cities in India:
- Mumbai-Pune
- Pune-Hyderabad
- Hyderabad-Bangalore
- Hyderabad-Chennai
- Chennai-Bangalore
- Delhi-Varanasi
- Varanasi-Siliguri

India’s First Bullet Train Is Already Under Construction
It should be noted that construction is currently underway on India’s first high-speed rail corridor: the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train. Work is progressing at full speed, and authorities regularly share updates. Reportedly, this corridor will be commissioned in a phased manner. Once operational, the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will reduce to less than two hours. This is amazing, right?
Just like this project, if all seven proposed corridors become operational, India would be connected more seamlessly than ever before. And these bullet trains are not regular trains. They are fast, modern, and technologically advanced. Bullet trains are also built to get you to your destination much faster. They are designed for speed, comfort, and of course, efficiency.
