The Uttar Pradesh government has now decided to improve public transport connectivity ahead of the commencement of operations at Noida International Airport in Jewar. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure the deployment of 110 electric buses to support airport connectivity. Here’s what we know so far. 

UP Plans 110 Electric Buses Ahead Of Jewar Airport Launch

Commercial flight operations at the new Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, will officially commence on June 15, 2026. IndiGo will operate the inaugural flight, followed by Akasa Air and Air India Express. The airport will serve as the second aviation hub for the Delhi-NCR region and will also help ease crowding at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to Hindustan Times, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has now directed officials to ensure the availability of at least 110 electric buses in the first phase. These buses will improve airport connectivity and strengthen public transport arrangements before flight operations begin.

Why Are Electric Buses Great For Public

You should know that electric buses are considered excellent for public transport. They not only offer a quieter and smoother ride but also produce no direct emissions, which can help reduce air pollution. According to The Economic Times, the Chief Minister also spoke about the rapid expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh

Reportedly, around 15.5 lakh electric vehicles are currently registered in the state. The government has set a target of establishing 10,000 charging stations by 2030. Around 2,599 charging stations are already operational in the state. The CM also reviewed expressway projects and the progress of operating 500 electric buses in Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority region.
