“Utterly Disgusting,” Netizens React As Viral Video Shows Rat Licking Ice Cream Cone At Mumbai’s 7-Eleven Store

A viral video has now sparked hygiene concerns among foodies in Mumbai. A video posted on Reddit has enraged users, showing rats licking an ice cream cone inside Mumbai’s 7-Eleven outlet at Seawoods station. Naturally, the incident has enraged many users on social media. 

Rats Spotted Licking An Ice Cream Cone At 7-Eleven In Mumbai

A Reddit user @Parking-Version9167 recently posted a video showing rats licking an openly kept ice cream cone at a 7-Eleven branch at Seawoods station in Mumbai. The store is located inside the Nexus Mall in Navi Mumbai. The caption under the post read, “I am disgusted. My friend and I were going to have some ice cream, and I noticed this. International franchise hai ye seriously?” You can check the whole post here. 

The user also added that he didn’t know what to do, so he decided to post it on Reddit in the hope that it would go viral and more people would become aware. He further added that this is a serious hygiene concern and that public health shouldn’t be taken lightly. Honestly, the video is quite disgusting. Many people stop by for ice cream or snacks from stores like these, and seeing this really raises hygiene concerns, especially when it comes to an international franchise. The user also urged people to avoid buying anything from this store.

Netizens React Strongly To The Incident

And obviously, the issue was not taken lightly by netizens. One user pointed out that there didn’t even seem to be any staff present at the store to address the situation. Another suggested the user report the matter to the FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India)—a statutory body responsible for regulating and supervising food safety and standards in India.

One user commented, “Omg. Thank you for sharing this. Never gonna visit that outlet for life now,” while another said, “The entire place needs a whole level sanitisation man. Utterly disgusting. I’ve seen videos of rats running around the floor but here they are just running havoc over all the equipments and food.”.

The video if legit is surely unsettling. We can’t even imagine how many times we have eaten from places like these without knowing what goes behind the scenes. This has to stop. Food outlets must give utmost importance to cleanliness and hygiene for the safety of everyone in the country.
