Vande Bharat Operated With All-Women Crew On Women’s Day; Train Decorated With Balloons

To mark International Women’s Day on March 8, an all-women crew operated the Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Mysuru. This was shared by the official X page of South Western Railway along with a video showing a group of women operating the train while people at the platform clapped for them.

Bengaluru-Mysuru Vande Bharat Operated By All-Women Crew

South Western Railway took to its official X account to share the proud moment that unfolded on International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026. The Bengaluru Division operated Train No. 20607 Dr MGR Chennai Central railway station-Mysuru Vande Bharat. The train was operated between Bengaluru and Mysuru with an all-women crew. The move is not just amazing but also celebrates the strength and leadership of women in railway operations.

According to the post by South Western Railway, the train was flagged off by Ms Priya, Senior Divisional Operations Manager; Smt Uma Sharma, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer (Co-ordination); Ms Nivedita Balaraddiyavar, Divisional Commercial Manager; and Shri Akhil Mattu, Divisional Electrical Engineer of traction operations. Balla Sivaparvathi served as the loco pilot, Aswathi S. Nair as the assistant loco pilot, and Priyadarshini as the train manager.

Train Decorated With Balloons To Celebrate Women’s Day

Apart from sharing the names of the team, South Western Railway also shared a video showing glimpses of the celebration. The Vande Bharat train was decorated with balloons and a banner in front that read, “International Women’s Day Celebrations 2026”. People standing on the platform clapped as the women started their journey on the train.

According to a report by Deccan Herald, women staff and women passengers were greeted with rose buds to celebrate their achievements, dedication and the role of women not just in Indian Railways but also in society. The video posted by South Western Railway impressed many netizens on the internet.
