Vande bharat sleeper train food

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, and it has been the talk of the town ever since. From comfort to features, the overnight train has won hearts, but it’s the food onboard that truly caught our attention. Guwahati’s Mayfair Spring Valley Resort has partnered with IRCTC as the official caterer for the train, and here’s everything you need to know.

Experience The Best Of Regional Food On Vande Bharat Sleeper Train

To give travellers a taste of distinctly regional flavours, Mayfair Spring Valley Resort in Guwahati curated a menu filled with some of the most delicious Bengali and Assamese food for the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, operating on the Howrah–Kamakhya (Guwahati) route.

According to the press release, the onboard menus have been carefully curated to strike a balance between comfort and regional flavours. The focus is on serving wholesome vegetarian meals ideal for overnight journeys, while remaining rooted in local culinary traditions. Seasonal produce, slow-cooked dishes, mild spice levels, and traditional sweets form the foundation of the dining experience.

Mayfair Spring Valley Resort will serve passengers classics such as Basanti pulao, cholar and moong dal, chanar and dhokar preparations, Assamese joha rice, mati mohor and masoor dali, and seasonal vegetable bhajis. Coming to the desserts, people will get to enjoy traditional desserts, including sandesh, narikol burfi, and rasgulla.
