Apart from getting a visa, travellers will be required to submit an additional health declaration document from July 1, 2026, to enter this Southeast Asian country. Here’s what it means for Indians planning a trip soon.

Vietnam To Introduce Health Declaration Requirement For Travellers

Whether it is for a holiday, a business trip, study, or even a brief transit stop, travellers may soon need to submit a health declaration before entering Vietnam. According to Business Today, this rule will come into effect from July 1, 2026. The Vietnamese authorities are expanding their health declaration requirement. This new rule will cover all travellers entering, departing from, or transiting through the country.

Under the new rules, Indians and travellers from other countries will be required to submit a health declaration within seven days before their arrival, departure, or transit through Vietnam. This means that apart from a visa, you will now need this additional document, too. You should know that the rule has been approved by the authorities, but the submission process has not been finalised as of now. Details regarding this new rule and the application process will be released in the coming weeks.

What It Means For Indians?

According to The Economic Times, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health will decide when and for which infectious diseases the requirement will be enforced. Plus, the decision will also be based on global disease trends and the risk of infectious diseases being imported into Vietnam. Travellers should expect possible delays when the new system is introduced. The reason? Authorities will need some extra time to adjust to this new requirement.
