Viral Video Shows FSSAI Officials Throwing 2000 Kg Of Adulterated Milk Cake In Ajmer River; Netizens: “They Have Created A Bigger Problem”

A shocking video is now making the rounds on social media. Two food safety officials were apparently captured disposing of adulterated milk cake into a river in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The incident has sparked outrage for polluting the river, not just with the mithai but also with its plastic containers. Here’s what happened.

Adulterated Milk Cake Dumped Into the River By FSSAI Officials In Ajmer

Recently, Ajmer food safety officials confiscated over 2,000 kg of adulterated sweets. While the confiscation was the right move, their next step has caused massive outrage online. Instead of disposing of the sweets and boxes properly, the officials were seen dumping them directly into a river in Ajmer, Rajasthan.

The video was first posted by @ghumo_ajmer on Instagram and later reposted by an X user @WokePandemic. The clip was captioned, “Ajmer Food safety officials confiscated 2000 plus KG of adulterated Mithai. But the foolishness of the officials can be seen while disposing of the adulterated Mithai. They have created a bigger problem with the way they disposed of it. I hope there is a rule book on how to dispose of it?”

Over 2,000 kg of milk cake was disposed of along with plastic containers. The footage also shows that no proper SOPs were followed before disposal. By doing so, the officials created an even bigger problem: polluting the water body instead of using eco-friendly disposal methods. According to @ghumo_ajmer, the adulterated milk cake was recovered from Ahmedabad in a private bus before being transported to Ajmer.

Video Sparks Outrage Among Netizens

The video quickly went viral and drew widespread criticism. One user commented, “@fssaiindia, was this your team? Where is the SOP for destroying captured items?” Another wrote, “Where are the SOPs? Social media projection seems strong, but ground delivery tells another story. Your officials caught polluting a river, is this the example to set?” Someone else wrote, “While it’s great that the officials took action against adulteration, proper disposal is just as important.”

Many X users pointed out that while confiscating harmful sweets was necessary, throwing them into a river was not the answer. It only added to the pollution and raised questions about how food safety authorities handle cases like these.

This incident is deeply concerning. There should be clear guidelines on how to responsibly dispose of adulterated food items instead of dumping them anywhere. Authorities must take strict action and look into this matter.
