Foreigner Alleges Harassment At Post Malone Concert In Guwahati

A travel vlogger, Emma, who goes by the username @discoverwithemma_, is currently on a backpacking tour across Southeast Asia. Like many fans, she recently attended the Post Malone live concert in Guwahati. But her experience was not what she expected. She took to Instagram to share with her followers that she and her friend, Amina, were touched without consent within minutes of entering the packed area.

Emma also shared a video from the concert where some boys could be seen in a brawl and said that “concerts in India aren’t safe for women.” The travel vlogger claimed that within ten minutes of entering the concert, they had to force their way out and move to the back near the vendors. The reason? They no longer felt safe. Emma also shared that they were not able to enjoy the concert.

Emma’s Post Sparks Angry Reactions From Netizens

Travel vlogger Emma also voiced her strong opinion on social media regarding harassment. She wrote, “This isn’t normal crowd pushing. It’s part of a wider issue of violence against women and the way harassment is minimised in public spaces.” Emma stated that a woman should never have to choose between enjoying the music and guarding her body.

But despite this, she maintained that her experience at the concert is not a ‘reflection of Guwahati as a whole’. She said, “Throughout our time here, we’ve experienced so much kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality.” Emma also mentioned that she met countless people at the concert who were lovely and respectful.

Emma ended her post by writing, “It only takes a small number of men acting without respect or consent to ruin an entire experience and create an environment of fear.” Her friend Amina, who accompanied her to the concert, mentioned in the comments that they had some good men step in to defend them and provide safety. Netizens were also quite angered by the whole incident.

One of them wrote, “North East India looked amazing through your guys’ reels. Really put it on the maps for many. Sorry to see this happen.” Another commented, “I’m sorry, ladies, you had to deal with this!!” One Instagram user also commented, “As a man from Guwahati, I feel genuinely ashamed and angered that you had to go through this here. This is not what our city stands for.”
