What Did India Google The Most In 2025? Thekua To Phu Quoc, The A–Z Of Our Biggest Searches

Every December, Google gives us our favourite annual throwback: a colourful list of everything India typed, wondered about, and obsessed over during the year. And honestly, it’s always fascinating. Because these searches show what made us laugh, what made us anxious, what inspired us, what we binge-watched, where we travelled, what we cooked, who we admired, and even what confused us.

The A–Z Of Everything We Googled

2025 was one of India’s most unique years in search. We balanced spirituality and AI, cooked traditional recipes but edited photos with crazy AI trends, and binged Panchayat and Squid Game with equal passion. So let’s slowly and simply walk through the A to Z of what India searched in 2025, one letter at a time.

We started this year with A, and India definitely started it with starry eyes. Two fresh faces, Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday, suddenly became the country’s biggest crushes thanks to the blockbuster Saiyaara. Then came B, and things got a little intense. When Bryan Johnson walked off Nikhil Kamath’s podcast mid-recording because of poor air quality, the internet blew up. With C, India turned into a nation of people trying to understand the world. The top meaning search of 2025 was “What is ceasefire?” But that same curiosity also led us to hilarious side quests like understanding what “Pookie” means, what “Nonce” is about, and why everyone was typing 5201314.

D brought a quiet, emotional moment. Searches for Dharmendra spiked as the country remembered the legendary actor. Moving to E, life reminded us that not everything can be controlled. “Earthquake near me” became the top “Near Me” search of the year. F was an interesting mix. On one hand, India was excited for the return of Final Destination, making it the most searched international film. On the other hand, everyone was suddenly talking about floodlighting, the top dating trend of the year.

And then came G, the giant of the year: Google Gemini. This was truly the year Indians embraced AI. Gemini became the #2 most searched overall term. H reminded everyone of the beauty of simplicity as the Haldi trend, basically turmeric water, took over social media.

As always, I stood tall for one thing: IPL, topping every list, from overall search and top sports event to top obsession. Then with J, women in sports finally got the spotlight they deserved. Jemimah Rodrigues became the #1 woman personality people searched for. K took us to the world of cinema again, where Kantara became the second most searched movie of the year.

By the time we arrived at L, everybody was asking one simple question: “What is Labubu?” M brought one of the biggest cultural moments of the decade: Maha Kumbh. And N was probably the most fun: the Nano Banana AI trend.  With O, the nation stood together again as searches spiked for Operation Sindoor after the tragic Pahalgam attack.

Travel dreaming took over P and Q, especially with Phu Quoc, which became India’s hottest new destination. R was the year of creators, with Ranveer Allahabadia becoming a major trending personality. S stood for Squid Game, once again India’s top-searched show.  Foodies took over T and U, making traditional recipes the stars of the year: Thekua, Ukadiche Modak, Ugadi Pachadi, and Thiruvathirai Kali.

V crowned a young champion, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the teenage cricketer who became India’s #1 trending personality of 2025. W was a blend of sports and social awareness. The Women’s World Cup brought massive attention, while the “Waqf Bill” became the top “What Is” search of the year.

With X, India explored yet another AI tool, Grok, showing that our interest in AI is only growing. And Y brought a fun surprise: Yorkshire pudding! It seems home cooks decided to try global recipes this year. And Z gave us a moment of collective tribute as the nation searched for Zubeen Garg, remembering the regional music icon with lots of love. Finally, even outside the alphabet, the #67 meme, the Arjun Kapoor meme, and the Vishal Mega Mart Security Guard meme kept everyone laughing.

What Did India’s Year In A Search 2025 Say About Us?

India is a country full of emotion, curiosity, humour, ambition, and heart. We searched when we were confused, when we were bored, when we were excited, when we were grieving, when we were inspired, and when we were just trying to understand the world around us. And this list tells a story of who we were this year!
