Bengaluru is famous for many things: culture, food and, most importantly, its iconic cherry blossom bloom, AKA the pink Tabebuia trees in the city. Between February and March, the city turns pink with its iconic Tabebuia blooms. In recent turns of events, to map the city’s iconic cherry blossom bloom, a techie built a website called Bengaluru Bloom. Read on to know more about it.
What Is ‘Bengaluru Bloom’?
According to AIM, a techie built a website called Bengaluru Bloom to locate the city’s pink Tabebuia blooms in great detail. For Malvika S Menon, a 25-year-old senior software developer working in Bengaluru, the iconic pink trees were more than just an opportunity for aesthetic social media posts.

Every year, for a few weeks in spring, Bengaluru transforms into a pink city with roads lined with rosy blooms. The pink flowers of the Tabebuia rosea and impetiginosa trees are also known as “Bengaluru’s cherry blossoms” and “pink trumpet trees”. Which adorns the city’s residential lanes and parks, making it quite a scene.
In a post shared by Malvika on X, it states how her personal hobby of photographing Bengaluru’s seasonal pink flower trees turned into a full-fledged mapping project.
Sharing the post, she wrote, “As a big fan of the pink flower blooms in Bengaluru, I try to click pictures of these trees wherever I spot them. In that journey, I got curious and did a little research and plotted it on a map. There are around 27k Tabebuia rosea trees in Bangalore currently.”
How Did The Internet React To This Virtual Map?
In the picture, we can see a visual map dotted densely with pink markers representing the locations of Tabebuia rosea trees across Bengaluru. The pink concentration appears especially thick in certain areas, making the city’s layout look like a blossom-filled canvas. Along with the map, she added pictures of the trees in full bloom, with soft pink clusters lining streets, making the roads look nothing but beautiful.
Soon after she posted the pictures, they gained widespread recognition from across India, as people praised her idea. One user wrote, “This is brilliant. Do you have the link to the map’s image you’ve created? I assume you’ve plotted the trees. Is it pin-location based? Would love to have the Google Map link,” while another wrote, “What a creative idea! I love flowers and maps — how fun to combine the two.”
