If you or someone in your family is planning a trip to the US, then this might come handy! The United States Department of State has released its latest Global Visa Wait Times data, revealing that B1/B2 visa interview appointments in major Indian metro cities can take up to 9.5 months. Here’s more about this.

What Is The Average US Visa Interview Wait Time Across India?

According to NDTV, the ‘average wait time’ for a US visa shows how long applicants waited between paying the visa fee and attending their interview during the previous reporting period. It’s important to note that this is only a historical average, not a fixed or guaranteed timeline.

The actual wait can change based on appointment cancellations, extra slots released by the consulate, staffing levels, and seasonal demand. As per the latest update on the Global Visa Wait Times page by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs, revised on February 13, 2026, the average wait time for B1/B2 (visitor) visa interview appointments in major Indian cities can go up to 9.5 months.
