Top tourist destinations in Jammu & Kashmir were shut after last year’s terror attack in Pahalgam. But now, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced the reopening of 14 tourist destinations to boost the tourism sector in the region, which was heavily impacted by the closure. Jammu & Kashmir Reopens Tourist Spots
Recently, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha made an announcement that could help recover the impacted tourism sector in J&K. He has directed the immediate reopening of 14 famous tourist spots across the Union Territory. These destinations were closed after the Pahalgam terror attack. According to NDTV, authorities took this decision after a thorough security review and discussion.
The move marks a significant step in restoring tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, which has been heavily impacted since April last year. The tragic incident triggered these precautionary closures on April 22, 2025, where 26 civilians were killed, including 25 tourists.

List Of Tourist Spots That Have Reopened
According to reports, these are the destinations reopened in the Kashmir Valley:
- Yousmarg
- Doodhpathri
- Dandipora Park
- Peer Ki Gali
- Dubjan
- Padpawan
- Astanpora
- Tulip Garden
- Thajiwas Glacier
- Hung Park
- Wular-Watlab
- Devi Pindi
- Mughal Maidan
- Mahu Mangat
Apart from this, four sites, Gurez and Athwatoo in Bandipora, Bangus in Kupwara, and Ramkund in Ramban, will reopen once the snow in those areas clears. With this latest update, authorities are reopening a large number of destinations that were shut after the terror attack. Moreover, the closure had seriously impacted thousands of families whose livelihoods depend on tourism in the region.
Jammu and Kashmir is all set to welcome tourists from across the country and the world once again. Furthermore, this move will definitely give a fresh and much-needed boost to travel and local businesses, and the region’s tourism industry.
