The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will now receive the ‘Eat Right Place’ recognition from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Here’s what this means and why this special certification is considered a big deal for religious places in India.
Ram Mandir In Ayodhya To Get The ‘Eat Right Place’ Recognition
Ayodhya Ram Mandir, one of the most important religious places in India, is all set to receive FSSAI’s ‘Eat Right Place’ recognition. According to Moneycontrol, this decision was taken following a complete assessment of the quality, hygiene and food safety standards of the prasad distributed and sold at the temple.
But why is this tag important? You would like to know that ‘Eat Right Places of Worship’ is an initiative by FSSAI, India’s food regulator. It aims to promote food safety, standards and hygiene at religious places in India. Temples, gurudwaras, mosques and other places of worship are continuously encouraged to follow food safety practices while preparing langar and prasad under this programme.

What Is The Certification Process?
According to Moneycontrol, this initiative also aims to create awareness among devotees about safe food practices and prevent malpractice in food distribution. Under this special programme, places of worship are provided with guidance on food safety, useful tips, dos and don’ts, and the proper handling and serving of food.
Now, let’s take a look at the certification process. The place of worship has to get a valid FSSAI registration or licence. After that, an FSSAI-recognised auditing agency comes and assesses the kitchen, storage facilities and food-handling practices. These checks are done to ensure compliance with prescribed standards.
After this, food handlers receive training on hygiene and food safety. If there are any deficiencies, corrective measures are taken, followed by a post-audit assessment. Once all the required food safety and hygiene standards are met, the place of worship is granted formal recognition and a certificate under the programme.
