Bengaluru is experiencing colder mornings with minimum temperatures around 15°C. The weather feels unusually cold, which is not how it is every year in the city. These unusual cold days have made many curious to know what’s causing it. Keep reading to know the real reason behind this. It might just surprise you!
Bengaluru Braces For Colder Days Ahead
Bengaluru is undoubtedly caught up in an unusual chill this year. Though it might not be as cold as winter in Delhi or other North Indian states, the weather feels a lot colder than it felt in past years. According to a report by News18, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a cold wave for northern and central India in the next few days. Bengaluru, which recorded temperatures around 16°C last week, might see temperatures fall to 12°C by next week. This means one thing: Bengaluru should brace for colder days ahead.
Though no severe cold warnings are in place, residents can expect below-normal temperatures with fog during early mornings. If temperatures drop to 12°C, it will officially mark the coldest December for Bengaluru since 2016. People might feel the chills, but no matter what, the misty cold mornings can also be your perfect moment to curl up with a mug of steaming hot chocolate!

Cyclone Ditwah Behind The Cold Weather
Bengaluru’s unusual colder days have a solid reason behind them. According to a report by News18, experts have attributed this strange cold pattern to Cyclone Ditwah, which formed near the Bay of Bengal and approached Indian coasts this month. It caused a dip in temperatures and brought cloudy conditions to the city. The cloudy skies also blocked the sunlight significantly.
C.S. Patil, a senior meteorologist at IMD Bengaluru, shared with The New Indian Express that though the skies will remain clear, the colder nights and mornings will continue in the coming week. Cold wave conditions are likely to occur in isolated pockets over Karnataka during the next three days. The districts that might be impacted are Belagavi, Bagalkote, Bidar, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Raichur and Yadgir.
