Why Will Jodhpur Airport Remain Shut For 30 Days? Here’s What You Need To Know

The Indian Air Force has issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) for the renovation of Jodhpur Airport’s runway. As per the NOTAM, all flights at Jodhpur Airport will remain suspended for approximately 30 days. Read on to know more about the Jodhpur Airport closure.

Jodhpur Airport To Remain Shut For 30 Days

As per a report by Bhaskar English, the NOTAM will be in effect at Jodhpur Airport from 6:30 pm on March 29 to 6:30 pm on April 27. NOTAM, which stands for ‘Notice to Airmen’, released an official notification to pilots, airlines, and civil aviation authorities of the Jodhpur Airport to inform them about the changes and maintenance work in advance.

The Airport Authority of India, Jodhpur Airport, posted on their official social media informing that Jodhpur Airport is a civil enclave and the runway is under the Indian Air Force. They also informed us that the renovation is happening after 7 years. The Air Force has also assured that the work for the third and final phase will be completed by May.

Flight Operations, Bookings & Others

According to the news portal, Jodhpur Airport is operating regular flights to Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, with approximately 14 flights per day. But after the NOTAM was issued, Indian airlines like IndiGo, Air India, and Air India Express stopped all bookings after March 28th.

Usually, airlines’ summer schedules are released after March 31st, but this time, due to Jodhpur Airport’s closure, the summer schedule in the city will only start from April 28th. It is estimated that after the summer schedules, flights to two or three destinations from Jodhpur will be reduced, and the number of flights will also be decreased by half. The closure of Jodhpur Airport is considered a major blow to the city’s overall air connectivity.

Not only Jodhpur Airport but also other airports operated by the IAF, like Srinagar, Pune, and Adampur airports, will also be affected this year due to runway upgrades and renovations. As per a report by the news portal, a complete shutdown of three weeks is proposed at Srinagar Airport in October 2026, while a closure of 8 days is scheduled at Pune Airport.
