Winters Are Over For Delhi? At 30°C City Records The Hottest February In 5 Years

It looks like the winter chills are over and the usual sunny weather is back for the capital city. On Monday, Delhi witnessed an unusually warm February day as the temperature crossed 30°C for the first time this year. Read on to know more about the Delhi weather.

Is Winter Over For Delhi?

According to the Hindustan Times, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 31.6°C on Monday, which is seven degrees above the seasonal average. As per the data, this is the first time in five years that Delhi has crossed 30°C in February. The last time it happened was in 2021, when it touched 30.4°C on February 11. Weather forecasts show that another warm day is likely today, with bright sunshine likely to keep the maximum between 29 and 31°C. As per the weather forecast, the city will get relief from Wednesday, as there will be very little rain and gusty winds of up to 40 km/h on Wednesday.

As per the Hindustan Times, Delhi weather was warmer than usual for the first half of February, with the maximum temperature between 15 and 25°C. Delhi’s maximum temperature has risen by 6°C since February 12, when it was recorded at 25.4°C. In February, the temperature was 26.3°C and 27°C on February 14 and 28.5°C on February 15.

What Does IMD Have To Say?

Talking to the news portal, an IMD official stated that due to the rise in mercury, there are no signs of any significant rain or moisture that leads to cloudiness. Due to the same, Delhi is witnessing clear skies and bright sunshine. The official also stated that despite light rain, the weather temperature would remain around 26-28°C.

Data shows that February has been warmer than usual this year; it was even warmer last year. In 2023 and 2021, the temperature was 25.8°C, and it was 22°C in the first half of February in 2024 and 22.8°C in 2022.

On Monday, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 10°C, which was a degree below normal for this time of the year. As per the forecasts, it is likely to rise around 12-14°C on Tuesday and 13-15°C on Wednesday.
