Bareilly tourism

Bareilly, long renowned for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant markets, is now making waves in the tourism sector. With over 1 crore domestic visitors this year, the city has matched the popularity of Goa. This milestone marks a significant boost for tourism in Uttar Pradesh and highlights Bareilly as an emerging travel destination. Scroll down to know more about this.

Bareilly Sees Tourism Boom

Attracting travellers with its temples, food, and vibrant local culture, Bareilly has emerged as one of Uttar Pradesh’s most happening tourism hubs. According to data shared by the UP tourism board, Bareilly welcomed one crore domestic and 1,056 foreign visitors in 2025.

According to a Times of India report, Bareilly’s tourism can be attributed to the state government’s efforts to highlight the city’s ancient temples, which date back to the Mahabharata era. Experts underscore the importance of these ancient temples and how they lacked “visibility and infrastructure.”

However, now with the Nath Corridor, modelled after similar projects in Varanasi and Ayodhya, Bareilly’s religious tourism is set to shine well beyond its famous jhumka. The corridor is set to put the city firmly on the state’s tourism map, highlighting its temples, mela grounds, museums, and parks.

Nath Corridor Effect & Better Connectivity

The impact of the Nath Corridor on Bareilly’s tourism was evident in 2025, with visitor numbers matching those of one of the country’s most popular vacation destinations—Goa! Hotels in the city reported higher occupancy, particularly on weekends, reflecting the growing interest in Bareilly as a travel destination.

In fact, taxis have reported an increase in both inter-district and inter-state bookings. Air connectivity has also improved, with Bareilly Airport, opened in 2019, ranking first in Uttar Pradesh and seventh nationally in a customer satisfaction survey conducted by the Airports Authority of India.
