Trust the Internet to have the most light-hearted, goofy and surprising stories right out of the horse’s mouth — the aam aadmi (common man). This time, a woman took to X (formerly Twitter) to narrate how her fellow companion (a tulsi plant) received VIP treatment at an Indian airport thanks to the spiritual staff.
Tulsi Plant Gets VIP Treatment & Special Security Protocol
Taking to X, Ritu Joon shared that her mother dotingly packed a tulsi plant for her daughter from her garden. Ritu was flying with the tulsi (holy basil) in her handbag. On spotting a plant in her purse, she claimed that initially, the Indian airport security staff were rude. Later, their behaviour changed once they realised it was a tulsi plant.
In her post, Ritu said she assumed the airport security crew would stop her for carrying a plant. But to her surprise, she realised they were more spiritual than her own mother. In fact, the woman claimed that her tulsi plant even received “VIP treatment” at the airport in India. Separate security protocols were also implemented for the green shrub. Making her post wholesome were pictures of the traveller with a tulsi plant jutting out of her handbag in the airport. “Now she’s happily planted on my balcony, reminding me of home,” concluded Ritu.

Netizens Laud This Wholesome Spiritual Post
Her wholesome post drew many comments from X users, who stressed the spiritual significance of the tulsi plant in Indian households. X user Akash Tiwari wrote, “Ha ha !! Reading this was so cute and wholesome. Airport security folks can be really nice at times.” In Hinduism, the tulsi plant is believed to be an incarnation of Maa Lakshmi herself. In many Lord Krishna temples, like the Jagannath Puri Temple in Odisha, tulsi leaves are given as prasad to devotees.
Another person wrote, “This made me smile – moms and their plants carry so much love in them. Feels like home in a pot.” A person wrote, “My father-in-law always buys one plant from Bangalore and takes it to our hometown in Imphal. That’s about 3 to 4 times a year, no security ever said anything, they are cool.”
