November 17, 2024, will be remembered as a memorable day in the aviation industry. After a long wait, the Indian aviation sector carried more than 5 lakh passengers in just a day. All airlines reached this special breakthrough by operating flights within India on Sunday. Yesterday became the first day in this sector’s history to carry such a humongous number of flyers domestically in a day.

Airlines that participated in this eventful occasion operated planes to carry a total of 5,05,412 passengers on Sunday. The numbers were reported from 3,173 flight take-offs from airports nationwide. Till November 17, this month noticed a surge in domestic passenger footfall in the Indian aviation sector.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, 4.9 lakh passengers travelled on November 8. The next day witnessed an overall footfall of 4.96 lakh travellers. November 14 recorded 4.97 lakh passengers. Based on the surge in footfall in November, the uptick in travel after Diwali is visibly evident. Looks like factors such as the festive season and peak wedding season play a huge role in rising passenger numbers.

The demand for flights is on the rise. However, the planes are quite limited till now. In November, the average flight deployment is about 3,161 daily. This stands for a small growth of eight flights every day when compared to October 2024. Sadly, the numbers are still lower than deployed flights during Diwali festivities.
