Yohan Poonawalla, an Indian billionaire, has made waves by acquiring a rare Range Rover formerly owned by Queen Elizabeth II. The 2016 Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography LWB edition, custom-built for the late monarch, was used by the British royal family. What sets this purchase apart is the vehicle’s retention of its original registration number, OU16 XVH, from the Queen’s ownership. Here are all of the other details about this fascinating new purchase by the Indian billionaire.

Yohan Poonawalla Buys Queen Elizabeth’s Range Rover

Typically, royal vehicles have their plates changed after leaving the royal household, but this one’s intact status enhances its historical value. According to an article which was recently published by Channeliam, the car was listed on Bramley’s Auctioneers website for £224,850 (approximately ₹2.25 crore).

However, Poonawalla opted for a private transaction rather than participating in the auction. The Range Rover boasts several bespoke features designed for the Queen, including police emergency lights, massage seats, and adapted fixed steps for easier entry.

Additional luxury touches include a shooting star headliner and covert lighting, further elevating its premium appeal. Yohan Poonawalla, Managing Director of the Poonawalla Group, is renowned for his extensive collection of rare and vintage automobiles.
