On February 6, the Iranian government made a major announcement about abolishing visas for Indian tourists. There are a set of 4 conditions that allow citizens of India to visit Iran visa-free and stay there for a maximum of 15 days. Iran’s visa-waiver programme is for a total of 33 countries from different parts of the world. The country scrapped the mandate requirement of presenting a visa for citizens of India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, and more.

The news of Iran allowing Indian citizens to visit without a visa has surfaced on the Internet since last year. And finally, it has come into effect this February. The Iranian Embassy stated that the programme came into action recently along with 4 conditions. This is a significant step by the government to boost tourism in Iran.

In a recently released statement, the Iranian embassy mentioned the new beginning of visa-free travel for Indian nationals and the conditions added to the travel facility. Indian citizens can travel to this overseas nation visa-free only for tourism purposes. Also, this policy is eligible for those visitors who are catching flights to reach Iran.
