What happens when Dubai meets desi? You get a 4-star hotel that practically screams “Namaste, welcome home!” (away from home) in Dubai. That’s exactly what’s going viral now, thanks to stand-up comedian Sorabh Pant and his hilarious Instagram reel about a very Indian hotel stay in Dubai. No, seriously, it’s got poha, parathas, Hindi news, IPL flags, and yes, even a jet spray.

When in Dubai, check into this Hotel that feels more ‘Desi’ Than Mumbai Itself. The Majestic City Retreat Hotel in Bur Dubai has become the talk of the Internet, and not because of its skyline view. Nope, it’s because it looks and feels like your wealthy NRI cousin’s living room during Diwali. From the buffet menu stacked with Jain poha, 19 varieties of paratha, and dosa on demand, to IPL banners at the sports bar. It’s pure desi hospitality abroad. Pant even pointed out the Sonam Quartz wall clock, casually adding that it looked straight out of Big Bazaar. Gold star for nostalgia!
The sports bar doesn’t just show random football matches. It’s IPL central. Hindi news channels dominate the room TVs. And for all those who can’t live without it, yes, there’s a fully functioning jet spray in the loo. It’s a very ‘Take my card’ moment for Indians who miss it when visiting international destinations!
Netizens React!
Naturally, netizens ran wild with the jokes. One user summed it up perfectly: “Tell us you’re in Bur Dubai without telling us.” Another joked, “Dubai is just a rich cousin’s house now.” But the love was real, too. People genuinely appreciated the homey touches, calling the breakfast buffet “gold” and the desi elements a “cherry on the cake.”
Located in the heart of Bur Dubai, a neighbourhood often dubbed ‘Little India’, Majestic City Retreat has clearly nailed its target audience. From solo Indian travellers to big desi families, it’s the kind of place we deep down need!
Even the hotel joined in on the fun, commenting on Pant’s post: “We’re proud to be Desi in a Videsi environment,” and honestly, we’re here for it.
