Indian Railways Makes Travel To Omkareshwar, Kashi & Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlingas Easier With New Projects On Mumbai-Prayagraj-Varanasi Route

To make travel easier for pilgrims, Indian Railways has planned new rail lines that will connect holy sites, including Jyotirlingas in Varanasi, Khandwa, and Nashik. Travelling to Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga in Varanasi, Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga in Nashik, or Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga in Khandwa is about to get easier. Additionally, these lines will improve the movement of coal, steel, cement, fertilisers, containers, and agricultural items.

Initiative By Indian Railways To Benefit Religious Tourism

Increased passenger trains on the Mumbai-Prayagraj-Varanasi route will help pilgrims travelling to the Jyotirlingas in Nashik, Khandwa, and Varanasi as well as to places of worship in Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Gaya, and Shirdi.

With 51 million tonnes handled annually, new lines will make it easier to move commodities like coal, steel, cement, fertilisers, and agricultural products. These routes will also save CO2 emissions by 271 crore kilograms, which is the same as planting 11 crore trees and saving 15 crore gallons of diesel yearly. This will reduce the nation’s logistics expenses and assist in achieving climate goals.

There are twelve Jyotirlinga shrines located throughout India, including these three temples. Shiva is worshipped at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, a Hindu temple located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The deities Vishwanath and Vishweshwara, which translate to “Lord of the Universe,” are housed within this shrine.

Trimbak, Maharashtra, is home to the historic Trimmbakeshwar Shiva Temple, a Hindu temple devoted to Shiva. The Godavari River, India’s second-longest river, arises from the Kusavarta Kunda (holy pond) on the temple grounds.

Situated on the island of Mandhata, close to Khandwa city in the Narmada River, is the Omkareshwar Temple. It is another Hindu temple devoted to Shiva in Mandhata, Madhya Pradesh. According to some people, the island’s shape is similar to the Devanagari ॐ sign.
