IndiGo is one of the largest carriers in India. Recently, while speaking to CNBC TV18, the CEO of IndiGo, Pieter Elbers, stated that India is the most competitive market in the world. He also stated that he has a number of big plans for the airline. For instance, he aims to double IndiGo in size in the coming future. IndiGo CEO: India Is The Most Competitive Market In The World
According to an article which was recently published by CNBC TV18, Pieter Elbers has big plans for the airline. While speaking at the Global Leadership Summit in Mumbai on November 14, 2024, he told CNBC TV18 that the airline serves a whopping 350,000 customers every day!
Out of these 350,000, 95 per cent are Indians. If reports are to go by, as of now, IndiGo operates more than 2,000 flights to as many as 122 destinations. Out of these, 34 are International and 88 are domestic. The airline as of October 2024 owns a fleet of 382 aircraft.
The CEO also expressed hope for the aviation market in India. He said that while India has the seventh-largest airline in the world, it does not have the seventh-largest aviation brand. He, therefore, expressed his hopes to fly 200 million people in a year over the next five years.
Airline Is Planning To Double In Size In The Coming Future
It also mentioned that he plans on doubling the airline in size. He mentioned that airlines in India had a lot of room to grow as they have the option of fully utilising the bilateral traffic rights in a number of countries.
IndiGo debuted its business class on the Mumbai-Delhi route. This is the first time in 18 years that the airline has introduced a business-class option.
